Through a co-creation approach, they identify innovation needs, define a shared vision for the future, scout existing solutions, and develop new solution pathways that address challenges in clinical practice.

One integrated approach
What sets this initiative apart is its integrated approach, spanning from vision development to accelerated implementation. Achieving this requires close collaboration. That is why the team has been strengthened with DE DESIGN (concept and design agency), Saxion University of Applied Sciences (knowledge partner), and Vintura (consultancy firm). The insights and experiences gained from this first project will be translated by the MST Innovation Lab into a blueprint that can also be applied across other departments within MST.
Companies can participate
Registration for the first MST Demo Day, taking place on 24 September, will open soon. Companies will have the opportunity to present solutions for the Women and Children’s Centre. The goal is to launch implementation projects with innovations that directly address the needs identified in daily practice. This aligns with the broader movement of using technology to support healthcare professionals in their work and contributes to the ambition of building the Hospital of the Future.
Rita Grob, Manager of the Women and Children’s Centre, explains: “At the Women and Children’s Centre, we see opportunities every day to further improve care for women, children and families. This collaboration enables us to work with innovative partners to turn those opportunities into real solutions.”
MST as a Living Lab for Twente
Bert Nijendijk, Project Manager at MedTech Twente, says: “We are creating a practical pathway to bring innovations into healthcare practice more quickly. The approach is being developed and validated within MST and can subsequently be scaled across the region through initiatives such as the Zorg Innovatie Plein. In this way, we make Twente more attractive for innovative companies while making collaboration with healthcare organisations more tangible and actionable.”
