On 2 July, the Saxion Industrial Design research group will host its annual symposium: an event that brings together industry partners, researchers and innovators to explore the future of design in healthcare and sustainable product development.

Over the past year, the research group has focused on two pressing societal challenges: improving care through thoughtful design and accelerating sustainability in product development. Using their expertise in empathic design and the responsible integration of materials and technology, the team worked on projects ranging from Re‑Care product maintenance and the reuse of medical instruments to personalized 3D‑printed sleep apnoea masks and circular design strategies.

During the symposium, the team will share key insights from these projects, together with real‑world experiences from industry and societal partners. These partners will highlight how practice‑based research drives meaningful innovation—innovation that truly works for users, patients and the environment.
