It is a first in the medical world: the artificial pancreas (AP®) from the medtech company Inreda® Diabetic in Twente, making it possible for diabetes patients to regulate their blood sugar completely automatically for the first time. More than one hundred patients are currently fitted with the device. But there is also good news for diabetic patients in the Netherlands who have not had the opportunity to use it so far: “I am expecting that the device will be available on a large scale in 2024”, says the inventor Robin Koops.
