Nano BioTech is about creating microscopic biological materials that can e.g. help to diagnose diseases. New technologies are making these diagnoses more reliable and affordable. Treatments with nanotechnology is also less painful for patients. Various diseases can be diagnosed with just a small amount of bodily fluid; a single drop of blood is all it takes.
Using Nano BioTech, we are able to build entire laboratories on a chip and we are working towards a world without lab animals, where people can test themselves in the comfort of their own home and where patients can fine-tune their own medication regimen. This is done through our expertise and activities in the field of Nano Bio Tech, a collection of nano-scale sensors, lab- and organ-on-a-chip solutions and bioengineering technology. Examples of successful businesses in this sector include Micronit, Mimetas, ECSens, Qurin, ScarTech Therapeutics and Lionix. The professionals of the future are being trained today with educational programs such as Saxion’s Applied Nanotechnology and the UT’s Nanotechnology program.
